[omnetpp] Implemeting own algorithm in simulation

Hi everyone, I would like to know where I should implement my own algorithm. At the moment I am trying to create my own application layer in which the algorithm implemeted. I am really not sure this is the right way to do it. Please help!!! Thank you!!!
